GMC Canyon
The GMC Canyon is a mid-size pickup truck with a maximum towing capacity of up to 7,700 pounds. The towing capacity can vary by the weight of the passengers, cargo options, and other accessories. Every GMC Canyon has a 310-horsepower turbocharged inline four-cylinder with an eight-speed automatic transmission. You can opt for the rear-wheel driver or upgrade to a four-wheel drive. The ATX model tops out at 5,500 pounds of towing capacity.
GMC Sierra 1500
Numerous engine and configuration options are available for the Sierra 1500, which will impact the tow rating for each model.

- 6.2-liter Gas V8 Engine (Standard on the Denali Ultimate, Available on the SLT, AT4, Denali, & AT4X): Up to 13,000 pounds with the four-wheel drive Crew Cab model, either a short or standard bed, the Max Trailering Package, and 20-inch wheels
- Duramax 3.0-liter Turbo-Diesel (Standard on the AT4 & AT4X, Available on the SLE, Elevation, SLT, Denali, & Denali Ultimate): Up to 13,200 pounds with the Double cab model, standard bed, the Max Trailering Package, and 20-inch wheels
- 5.3-liter Gas V8 Engine (Standard on the SLT & Denali, Available on Pro, SLE, & Elevation): Up to 11,200 pounds with the Double Cab, two-wheel drive, standard bed, the Max Trailering Package, and 18- or 20-inch wheels
GMC Sierra HD
The Sierra HD lineup includes the Sierra 2500 and 3500, available with two engine options. The 3500 also has the dual-rear axle option, which will affect the maximum towing capacity as well as the cab size, bed length, and equipment options.
- 6.6-liter Gas V8 (Standard on the Pro, SLE, SLT, AT4, Denali, & AT4X): Up to 18,500 pounds depending on the configuration
- Duramax 6.6-liter Turbo-Diesel V8 (Standard on Denali Ultimate, Available on Pro, SLE, SLT, AT4, Denali, and AT4X)
- Up to 21,870 pounds with the Sierra 2500, Crew Cab, long bed, two-wheel drive, the Max Trailering Package, Gooseneck/Fifth-Wheel Prep Package, and 18- or 20-inch wheels
- Up to 36,000 pounds with the Sierra 3500, regular cab, rear-wheel drive, dualie, and gooseneck hitch
GMC Sierra EV Denali
With the extended range battery, the new GMC Sierra EV Denali can tow up to 10,500 pounds.
GMC Hummer EV Pickup
The maximum towing capacity of the Hummer EV pickup truck is 12,000 pounds with the 570-horsepower dual-motor powertrain. Choosing the three-motor setup drops the towing capacity to 7,500 to 8,500 pounds.
